Digital Circuit 02 AND-gate

Explaination how an AND-gate works in CMOS technology.

The AND-gate is one of the three fundamental elements of digital electronics, together with the NOT-gate and the OR-gate.

An AND-Gate consists of three PMOS transistors and three NMOS transistors.

high output only when both inputs are high
high output only when both inputs are high

Only if both inputs are high, then the red node is pulled to ground, because the two NMOS-transistors between ground and the red node conduct therefor pull the red node to ground, and the two PMOS-transistors between the positive node and the red node both block.
